Opt-out guide
How to opt out of Spokeo and remove your name
Spokeo aggregates public records and social data into a single profile and sells access to it. Removing yourself is one of the simpler opt-outs: find your listing, submit its URL, and confirm by email. There is no bulk removal, so repeat it for each listing that is you.
Wondering whether Spokeo is even legitimate first? Read our honest Spokeo check for what it is, what regulators have said about it, and what it exposes.
What Spokeo exposes
- Full name and age
- Current and past addresses
- Phone numbers and email addresses
- Relatives and associates
- Property records and linked social profiles
Step-by-step removal
- 1
Find your listing
Search your name or email on spokeo.com and open the profile that matches you. Spokeo keeps separate listings for different name variations and emails, so identify the exact one to remove.
- 2
Copy your profile URL
Copy the full URL of your Spokeo profile from the browser address bar. The opt-out form needs this exact link to identify your listing.
- 3
Open the opt-out page
Go to spokeo.com/optout (also reachable via the Do Not Sell My Info link in the footer) and scroll to the Opt Out Your Listing section.
- 4
Submit the form
Paste your profile URL into the Enter URL Here box and enter an email address you can access for confirmation.
- 5
Complete the CAPTCHA
Check the reCAPTCHA box and click Opt Out to submit the request.
- 6
Confirm via email
Open the confirmation email from Spokeo and click the verification link to finalize the removal.
Good to know
- Each listing has a unique URL and must be opted out individually - there is no bulk removal.
- The confirmation email may land in spam.
Listings can reappear every three to six months as Spokeo ingests fresh records, so re-check periodically and repeat the opt-out if your profile returns.
