Opt-out guide
How to opt out of Ownerly and remove your name
Ownerly is a property-value site, so its opt-out is keyed to an address rather than to a person, and the flow asks for the full address on the listing rather than your name. Optery describes Ownerly as an affiliate company of BeenVerified, and its opt-out is processed on BeenVerified's system.
Ownerly's opt-out requests are processed on BeenVerified's system, so one request can cover more than one site. Check both afterwards rather than assuming.
Wondering whether Ownerly is even legitimate first? Read our honest Ownerly check for what it is, what regulators have said about it, and what it exposes.
What Ownerly exposes
- Full name
- Home value and property records
- Address history
- Names attached to a property
Step-by-step removal
- 1
Find your listing
On ownerly.com use the state directory, pick your street, and locate the listing that covers your property.
- 2
Open the opt-out link
Scroll down the listing page and click Do Not Sell My Personal Information.
- 3
Continue to BeenVerified
Click Do Not Sell My Info on the pop-up that appears.
- 4
Choose the property route
Select the option for opting out of the property search rather than the person search.
- 5
Enter the address
Type the full address exactly as it appears on the listing and click Search, then Continue on your record.
- 6
Select the names
Tick the name or names to remove and click the opt-out owners button.
- 7
Verify by email
Enter an email, clear the CAPTCHA, click Send Verification Email, then click the link in the message.
Good to know
- The property route is a different form from the standard people search - picking the wrong one is the usual reason an Ownerly opt-out goes nowhere.
- If you have moved, the listing that names you may be attached to a previous address rather than your current one.
Removal clears the records held at the time. New public-record and directory batches can rebuild a listing later, so re-search your name every few months and repeat the request for anything new.
