Opt-out guide

How to opt out of BeenVerified and remove your name

5 minutes easy difficultyLast verified July 26, 2026

BeenVerified runs a fast, email-only opt-out. Search yourself, pick your record, and click the verification link it emails you. Opt out of every profile tied to name variations, maiden names, or old addresses - each is a separate listing.

BeenVerified is often written as "Been Verified", as two words. It is the same site, and the opt-out below is the same either way.

Wondering whether BeenVerified is even legitimate first? Read our honest BeenVerified check for what it is, what regulators have said about it, and what it exposes.

BeenVerified opt-out questions

Is BeenVerified legitimate, or is it a scam?

BeenVerified is a real, operating New York company founded in 2007, not a phishing scam, and its free opt-out genuinely works. That does not make it harmless: it publishes your address history and relatives to anyone who subscribes, and it is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, so its reports may not lawfully be used for hiring, tenant, or credit decisions. Our full write-up is at /brokers/beenverified.

Does opting out of BeenVerified remove me from other people-search sites?

No. Every people-search site maintains its own database and its own opt-out, so removing yourself from BeenVerified has no effect on Spokeo, Radaris, Nuwber, or any of the others. This is the main reason a full cleanup takes a list rather than a single request - run a scan or work through our guides to see which sites list you.

How many BeenVerified listings do I need to opt out of?

As many as it holds for you, and there is frequently more than one. BeenVerified builds separate records for name variations, maiden names, nicknames, and old addresses, and each record has to be opted out on its own. After your first removal confirms, search again for every version of your name you have used.

How do I remove my name from BeenVerified?

Open BeenVerified's opt-out page at beenverified.com, find the listing that matches you, and submit the removal request. You then confirm the request by clicking a link that arrives by email. The whole process takes about 5 minutes and costs nothing. The step-by-step version is above.

How long does the BeenVerified opt-out take?

Submitting the request takes about 5 minutes. After that, BeenVerified typically removes the listing within 24 to 72 hours (often within 24 hours). If your profile is still visible after that window, search your name again - you may have a second listing that needs its own request.

Is the BeenVerified opt-out permanent?

Not reliably. Records can reappear as BeenVerified pulls in refreshed public data, so periodically re-search your name and repeat the opt-out for any new profiles. Treat removal as maintenance rather than a one-time fix: re-search your name every few months and repeat the opt-out for anything new.

Do I need an account to opt out of BeenVerified?

No. BeenVerified's opt-out works without registering or signing in, and you never need to pay. If something asks you for card details to remove your data, you are not on the real opt-out page.

Is it free to remove my information from BeenVerified?

Yes. BeenVerified's opt-out is free, and so is every other major US people-search opt-out. Paid removal services are worth considering for the volume of sites they cover and the re-checking they do, but they file these same free requests on your behalf - they do not unlock anything you cannot do yourself.

Don't want to do this 62+ times?

Opting out one broker at a time works, but there are dozens of them and many relist you after a few months. A removal service files and re-files these requests for you across the whole industry.
