Opt-out guide

How to opt out of Cotality and remove your name

15 minutes hard difficultyLast verified August 1, 2026

CoreLogic is now Cotality, and that rename has quietly broken most of the advice written about it. The opt-out URL cited across removal guides, corelogic.com/privacy/opt-out/, now redirects into the new site and returns a 404. If you have followed a guide and hit a dead page, that is why.

Cotality is often written as CoreLogic, the name it used until the 2025 rebrand. It is the same site, and the opt-out below is the same either way.

Wondering whether Cotality is even legitimate first? Read our honest Cotality check for what it is, what regulators have said about it, and what it exposes.

What Cotality exposes

  • Property ownership and transaction history
  • Mortgage and lien records
  • Rental and tenancy history
  • Address history tied to property records

Step-by-step removal

  1. 1

    Start at the current domain

corelogic.com now redirects to cotality.com. Any bookmarked opt-out link from before the rebrand is likely dead, so start from the live site rather than a saved URL.

  2. 2

    Open the product privacy policy

Go to cotality.com/legal/product-privacy-policy, which is where the current consumer rights and request routes are described.

  3. 3

    Use the online privacy portal

The privacy portal is opened by a control on that page rather than living at its own address, which is why it cannot be linked to directly.

  4. 4

    Or call the published number

Cotality publishes 1-866-221-9291 for California residents to submit a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

  5. 5

    Or email the privacy team

Questions and requests can go to privacy@cotality.com. A written request also gives you a dated record.

  6. 6

    Understand what is carved out

The product privacy policy states it does not apply to information regulated by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act or the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Much of what this company holds about property, mortgages and tenancy falls under exactly those rules, so it sits outside the opt-out.

Good to know

  • The GLBA and FCRA carve-out is the important limitation. A successful request here does not clear the regulated data, and no guide claiming a clean sweep of Cotality is being straight with you.
  • Rights and eligibility vary by state, so what you can ask for depends on where you live.
  • Teletrack removal, often mentioned alongside CoreLogic, is an Equifax product and is handled separately by post to Teletrack, PO Box 740008, Atlanta, GA 30374.
  • We could not confirm the exact portal steps from here because the portal is a script-driven overlay rather than a linkable page.

Property and mortgage records are continuously refreshed from public filings, so suppression of marketing data does not stop new records being created about a property you own or rent.

Cotality is a credit and risk broker. FCRA-regulated companies where the marketing opt-out is not your credit file.

Cotality opt-out questions

How do I remove my name from Cotality?

Open Cotality's opt-out page at cotality.com, find the listing that matches you, and submit the removal request. No separate confirmation step is required. The whole process takes about 15 minutes and costs nothing. The step-by-step version is above.

How long does the Cotality opt-out take?

Submitting the request takes about 15 minutes. After that, Cotality typically removes the listing within acknowledgement within 10 business days is commonly reported; full processing takes longer. If your profile is still visible after that window, search your name again - you may have a second listing that needs its own request.

Is the Cotality opt-out permanent?

Not reliably. Property and mortgage records are continuously refreshed from public filings, so suppression of marketing data does not stop new records being created about a property you own or rent. Treat removal as maintenance rather than a one-time fix: re-search your name every few months and repeat the opt-out for anything new.

Do I need an account to opt out of Cotality?

No. Cotality's opt-out works without registering or signing in, and you never need to pay. If something asks you for card details to remove your data, you are not on the real opt-out page.

Is it free to remove my information from Cotality?

Yes. Cotality's opt-out is free, and so is every other major US people-search opt-out. Paid removal services are worth considering for the volume of sites they cover and the re-checking they do, but they file these same free requests on your behalf - they do not unlock anything you cannot do yourself.

What does Cotality show about me?

A typical Cotality listing can include property ownership and transaction history, mortgage and lien records, rental and tenancy history, and address history tied to property records. Exactly what appears varies by person and by how much of it has reached public records.

Don't want to do this 62+ times?

Opting out one broker at a time works, but there are dozens of them and many relist you after a few months. A removal service files and re-files these requests for you across the whole industry.
