Opt-out guide
How to opt out of US Search and remove your name
US Search removals run through parent company PeopleConnect's centralized suppression portal - the same one used by Intelius, TruthFinder, and Instant Checkmate, so a single request can cover all of them. Its opt-out entry point migrated to this shared portal recently; if a link looks outdated, start from the US Search footer Do Not Sell link.
Wondering whether US Search is even legitimate first? Read our honest US Search check for what it is, what regulators have said about it, and what it exposes.
What US Search exposes
- Full name and age
- Addresses and phone numbers
- Relatives and associates
- Public-record background details
Step-by-step removal
- 1
Open the PeopleConnect suppression portal
Go to suppression.peopleconnect.us/?brand=USSearch (US Search removals are handled through PeopleConnect's centralized suppression system).
- 2
Enter your email and accept terms
Provide your email, check the terms of use box, and submit to begin the suppression request.
- 3
Verify your identity
Open the verification email from PeopleConnect, choose your verification method from the dropdown, and enter the code sent by email or SMS.
- 4
Locate and select your record
Search your first name, last name, and state, review the results, and select the profile that matches you.
- 5
Submit the removal
Complete the opt-out form and submit. Unverified requests are not processed.
Good to know
- US Search, Intelius, Instant Checkmate, and TruthFinder are all owned by PeopleConnect, and one suppression request can cover them at once.
- Verification can be done by email or SMS depending on the option you pick.
- The opt-out entry point recently moved to the shared portal - if an older ussearch.com link redirects, use the footer Do Not Sell link.
Because PeopleConnect brands share data and re-ingest public records, a listing can return over time; re-check periodically and re-submit if it reappears.
