Opt-out guide

How to opt out of Intelius and remove your name

10 minutes medium difficultyLast verified July 22, 2026

Intelius removals go through the shared PeopleConnect Suppression Center, which also covers TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, and US Search. It asks for your date of birth in addition to email, so it needs slightly more identifying info than most brokers - but one request can cover the sibling brands.

Wondering whether Intelius is even legitimate first? Read our honest Intelius check for what it is, what regulators have said about it, and what it exposes.

Good to know

  • Runs through the shared PeopleConnect portal, which also covers TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, and US Search.
  • Requires date of birth in addition to email - more identifying info than most brokers.
  • If you cannot access the email on file, email privacy@peopleconnect.us to verify another way.

Opting out only removes the records Intelius currently holds; data can reappear within about six months as it scrapes new public records, so re-check and re-suppress periodically.

Intelius is a people-search site. Public profiles with your address history, phone numbers and relatives.

Intelius opt-out questions

How do I remove my name from Intelius?

Open Intelius's opt-out page at suppression.peopleconnect.us, find the listing that matches you, and submit the removal request. You then confirm the request by clicking a link that arrives by email. The whole process takes about 10 minutes and costs nothing. The step-by-step version is above.

How long does the Intelius opt-out take?

Submitting the request takes about 10 minutes. After that, Intelius typically removes the listing within about 48 hours (can take several days). If your profile is still visible after that window, search your name again - you may have a second listing that needs its own request.

Is the Intelius opt-out permanent?

Not reliably. Opting out only removes the records Intelius currently holds; data can reappear within about six months as it scrapes new public records, so re-check and re-suppress periodically. Treat removal as maintenance rather than a one-time fix: re-search your name every few months and repeat the opt-out for anything new.

Do I need an account to opt out of Intelius?

No. Intelius's opt-out works without registering or signing in, and you never need to pay. If something asks you for card details to remove your data, you are not on the real opt-out page.

Is it free to remove my information from Intelius?

Yes. Intelius's opt-out is free, and so is every other major US people-search opt-out. Paid removal services are worth considering for the volume of sites they cover and the re-checking they do, but they file these same free requests on your behalf - they do not unlock anything you cannot do yourself.

What does Intelius show about me?

A typical Intelius listing can include full name, age, and date of birth, current and past addresses, phone numbers and email addresses, relatives and associates, and public-record details and social profiles. Exactly what appears varies by person and by how much of it has reached public records.

Why does Intelius need my email address to remove my data?

It uses the email only to confirm that the request came from you, which stops strangers from deleting each other's listings. Consider using an alias address if you would rather not hand Intelius a live inbox. The confirmation link often lands in spam, and on most brokers it expires within a day or two.

Don't want to do this 62+ times?

Opting out one broker at a time works, but there are dozens of them and many relist you after a few months. A removal service files and re-files these requests for you across the whole industry.
