Opt-out guide
How to opt out of FreePeopleDirectory and remove your name
FreePeopleDirectory has one of the simplest opt-outs of any broker in this list: a single box that takes the URL of the listing you want gone. There is no account, no email verification and no ID. The catch is that you have to find your own listing first, because the form works on a URL rather than a name.
What FreePeopleDirectory exposes
- Full name
- Address history
- Phone numbers
Step-by-step removal
- 1
Find your listing first
Search freepeopledirectory.com for your own name and open the profile page that is actually yours. The opt-out form identifies records by URL, so without the URL there is nothing to submit.
- 2
Copy the profile URL
Copy the full address of that profile page from your browser's address bar.
- 3
Open the opt-out page
Go to freepeopledirectory.com/optout. Note the spelling - there is no hyphen, and the hyphenated address returns a 404.
- 4
Paste the URL and submit
Paste the profile address into the box marked "Enter the profile URL you wish to remove" and submit. That is the entire process.
- 5
Repeat for any duplicate listings
Because the form removes one URL at a time, a second or third listing under a variant of your name needs its own submission.

Good to know
- FreePeopleDirectory says on the opt-out page itself that it aggregates from third-party sources, so removing its listing will not remove your information at the original source and your details may still appear on other directory sites. That is an unusually honest statement and it is worth taking literally.
- There is no confirmation email, because the form never asks for an address. Re-check the profile URL after a few days to confirm it is gone.
- The one-URL-at-a-time design is the main friction here: search variations of your name, including middle initials and former names, before assuming you are done.
Removal clears the listing at that URL only. FreePeopleDirectory states its data comes from third-party sources it does not control, so the same details can be re-imported into a new listing later.
