Is ZabaSearch legit and safe?
Reviewed August 1, 2026
Short answer
ZabaSearch is a legitimate people-search brand with no enforcement action of its own that we could find, and its removal runs through the PeopleConnect suppression centre. It has the heaviest opt-out in the category: date of birth and legal name before it will show you your own record.
| Type of site | People-search sites |
|---|---|
| Cost to remove yourself | Free |
| Time to submit the request | 15 minutes |
| Account required | No |
| Typical time to disappear | up to 72 hours |
| Opt-out actually handled by | PeopleConnect - one request can cover several sites |
| Enforcement actions we found | None |
Is ZabaSearch a scam?
No. It is a long-established brand now operating inside a larger group. The friction is real though, and asking for a date of birth to process a privacy request is a genuine cost worth weighing.
What ZabaSearch actually is
A free people-search and reverse phone lookup returning names, ages, address history, phone numbers and relatives.
Where ZabaSearch gets your data
Public records, directory and telecom data and purchased commercial datasets, pooled within the PeopleConnect group of brands.
Is it legal?
It states it is not a consumer reporting agency, so its reports may not lawfully be used for employment, tenant, or credit decisions. That label is not self-executing: in September 2023 the FTC penalised TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate $5.8 million for operating as consumer reporting agencies while marketing background reports for screening, so what a site calls itself does not settle the question.
What ZabaSearch exposes about you
- Full name and age
- Current and past addresses
- Phone numbers
- Relatives
The real risks
- Results are readable with no payment and no account, so nothing stands between a stranger typing your name and reading your address history.
- The suppression portal asks for date of birth and legal name, which is more personal data than most opt-outs require.
- Because one portal covers several brands, people who stop after one site often leave the others untouched anyway.
- Listings rebuild as public records refresh, so removal is maintenance rather than a permanent fix.
ZabaSearch's public record
We found no federal regulatory enforcement action against ZabaSearch. That is worth stating plainly rather than leaving to implication - an empty enforcement record is a point in its favour, and we are not going to manufacture a controversy to make this page more dramatic. The case for removing your data does not depend on the company having been fined.
What to do about it
You can remove yourself for free, and you do not need a reason. Our step-by-step ZabaSearch opt-out guide covers the current process - about 15 minutes, no payment, and no account needed in most cases. Expect to repeat it every few months, because these listings rebuild from public records. If you would rather see which sites list you before starting, the free exposure scan checks the major brokers, known breaches, and public profiles tied to your username without storing anything.
California residents have a stronger option: the state's free DROP platform sends a single binding deletion request to every registered data broker. Everyone else can see what your state allows.
